IN-MOLD
Helmets In-Mold are the lightest on the market. The internal EPS is directly injected into the polycarbonate shell, thermoformed beforehand. The 2 layers are inseparable and allow the shock to be distributed over the entire surface for optimal absorption and protection.
ABS
The helmets in ABS offer better resistance to shocks and impacts. Made up of an internal EPS shell covered with a thick shell in ABS thermoformed, they are resistant and durable over time.

Construction In-Mold: lightweight and durable

The In-Mold construction directly fuses the internal protective foam into the outer polycarbonate shell, forming a single inseparable block. This construction helps distribute impact energy across the entire surface of the helmet for optimal absorption, while significantly reducing its weight. A lightweight helmet is one you forget you are wearing and therefore keep on more easily.

Construction ABS: resistance to repeated impacts

The ABS construction consists of internal protective foam covered with a thick shell of thermoformed ABS. More resistant to repeated impacts and intensive everyday use, it is notably used in some urban and children's models, where durability is a key criterion.

Occipital Protect Zone: protecting where falls happen

The Occipital Protect Zone technology structurally reinforces the rear area of the skull, which is particularly exposed during bicycle falls. A more covering shape at the back of the head provides targeted protection, where it is most needed.

MIPS® technology: going even further in protection

The effectiveness of a helmet during a bicycle impact is a fact that no longer needs to be proven. To go even further, Cairn and MIPS® have jointly developed helmets that are even safer for your head.
Accident statistics show that, most often, falls and impacts produce an angular impact (less than 90°) on the head. These so-called “rotational” impacts can cause severe brain injuries. MIPS® technology (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is designed to absorb this rotational force in order to reduce its impact on the brain.

Comfort, ventilation and fit: ride without constraints

Aero Flow Channel ventilation

Aero Flow Channel is a system of channels carved into the helmet’s internal protective foam. These channels naturally circulate air from the front to the rear outlet, continuously regulating temperature, even during intense effort or long rides. Passive ventilation, without any mechanism, integrated directly into the helmet’s structure.

Insect mesh

On a selection of models, an insect mesh is integrated into the front air intakes. It effectively protects against flies, mosquitoes and other flying insects without compromising ventilation, so you can ride without distraction.

Wheel Fit adjustment system

The Wheel Fit system allows the helmet tightness to be adjusted to the nearest millimeter using a dial, for perfect support throughout the ride. On some gravel and all-road models, the 360° adjustment offers even finer precision, with height adjustment as well.

FIDLOCK® magnetic buckle

The FIDLOCK® magnetic buckle replaces the traditional clip with a magnetic fastening mechanism. A simple gesture is enough to fasten or unfasten the chin strap, even with gloves, even with one hand. A practical detail that simplifies the daily life of regular cyclists.

Breathable, removable and washable linings

All Cairn helmets are equipped with removable and washable inner linings for long-lasting hygiene. On a selection of models, the lining is made of ECODRY bamboo fibers, 40% more absorbent than cotton for superior comfort and reduced environmental impact.

Clear visors

Some urban and trail models are equipped with an integrated clear visor compatible with prescription glasses. It provides additional protection against wind, insects and bad weather without affecting vision.

Visibility: battery-powered or USB-C rechargeable LED

On a selection of urban and trail models, a rear LED light is integrated into the helmet. Offered with 3 lighting modes (steady, blinking, flash), it considerably improves visibility for other road users during rides early in the morning, in the evening or in low light conditions. Depending on the model, the LED is battery-powered or rechargeable via USB-C.

Eco-responsible materials

Cairn is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its products. On a selection of models, the straps are made of ECOSOFT, woven fibers derived from recycled plastic bottles. ECODRY linings use biodegradable bamboo fibers for greater comfort and reduced impact. With the summer 2026 collection, 80% of packaging uses recycled cardboard.

What is the safety standard for Cairn bicycle helmets?

All Cairn bicycle helmets comply with and are certified according to the CE EN 1078 standard, the European benchmark certification for bicycle and scooter helmets. This approval guarantees that each model has been tested and validated to effectively protect cyclists and scooter users.
At Cairn, this certification is included in all models at no extra cost: you do not have to choose between safety and price.
Some models go even further in terms of protection and feature the Cairn Protect System label, a technology designed to increase shock absorption capacity and enhance overall safety.

How long can you keep a bicycle helmet?

A helmet’s materials (EPS foam, polycarbonate, straps) degrade over time, with UV exposure and impacts, even when this is invisible to the naked eye. Cairn recommends replacing your helmet every 3 years after the date of purchase.
In the event of a fall or impact, even without visible damage, it must be replaced immediately: the EPS foam absorbs the energy of the impact by deforming irreversibly inside, without this being visible.
A helmet that has sustained an impact therefore no longer protects in the same way. Designed to protect you effectively, it is essential to take care of it and use it under the best conditions.

How do you care for your bicycle helmet?

Clean your helmet with a soft cloth, lukewarm water, and a mild soap. Avoid detergents, solvents, or chemicals that could damage the materials or reduce protective performance. The inner linings of all Cairn helmets are removable and washable for long-lasting hygiene. On some models, they are made from ECODRY bamboo fibers, 40% more absorbent than cotton. Store your helmet in a dry place, away from heat and direct UV rays between rides.

Are there any children's bike helmets at Cairn, and from what age?

Yes, Cairn offers a complete range of helmets for children and juniors, with sizes starting at XS (48 cm). It is recommended to consult the size guides available on each product page in order to choose the most suitable model.
All are compliant and CE EN 1078 certified. Some models feature Occipital Protect Zone (enhanced protection for the back of the neck, the area most exposed during children's falls due to their high center of gravity) and Aero Flow Channel (thermal regulation to prevent overheating).

Are Cairn helmets guaranteed?

Yes, all Cairn helmets are covered by a 2-year warranty for normal use, covering manufacturing or material defects. It does not apply to damage caused by an impact (the helmet must then be replaced), improper use, or normal wear and tear.

Is it better to choose a bike helmet with or without MIPS®?

A helmet without MIPS® already provides effective protection, but a model with MIPS® can offer an additional level of protection in certain situations.
A CE EN 1078 certified helmet already offers an excellent level of protection against direct impacts, in accordance with current safety requirements.
However, many cycling falls also involve angular impacts, when you slide or fall at an angle, generating rotational forces.
