Our commitments
At Cairn, we know that manufacturing outdoor equipment has an impact on the environment. Rather than pretending to be flawless, we prefer to speak simply: we are moving forward, step by step, towards more responsible practices. This involves regularly questioning our processes, making more conscious choices, and striving to improve what can be improved without compromising the reliability of our products.
PROGRESS TO DO BETTER
For several seasons, we have been implementing various actions to reduce our ecological impact, particularly on packaging and raw materials. These are gradual changes that require technical and logistical adjustments but are deemed essential. We have started to integrate recycled packaging in certain ranges. We are increasingly exploring recycled or recyclable raw materials for our products, such as some of our gloves, hats, glasses, and accessories. These decisions are not always the easiest to implement, but they seem fair and improvable.
ECOSOFT & ECODRY: ADVANCES IN PROGRESS
Among the concrete initiatives:
- ECOSOFT now allows the design of straps from recycled plastic bottles. A solution that reduces dependence on virgin materials while ensuring the expected strength.
- ECODRY uses biodegradable bamboo fibers for certain internal helmet linings. These fibers are more absorbent than cotton and provide better comfort, while aligning with a logic of natural and sustainable material.
These innovations do not solve everything, but they are part of the first steps towards more responsible design.
PACKAGING THAT EVOLVES
We have taken an important step: all of our packaging is now made from recycled or recyclable materials. This change required rethinking some production chains and making demanding technical choices, but it marks a concrete advance in our desire to limit our impact. It is not an end in itself. This choice is part of a global approach of continuous improvement where every decision counts and where there are still levers to activate to go further.
UNDER CONSTRUCTION, ALWAYS
For us, our commitments are not fixed results. We know there is still a long way to go, that every decision involves trade-offs, and that transparency matters as much as the results. Our ambition is simple: to do our best with honesty and to continue progressing so that the equipment we design is as respectful as possible of the terrains on which you use them.
