HOW IT ALL STARTED
1938
CAIRN is a Lyon-based family business with a long tradition. From 1938, in his workshops in the Croix-Rousse, Albert Baudet made gloves and clothing that he wanted to be warm, comfortable and protective.
Meticulous and passionate, he acquired the know-how that enabled him to rapidly extend his reputation as far as the Alps.
1990
In the early 90s, an expedition to Nepal was a revelation. Faced with Dhaulagiri, in the demanding environment of the very highest mountains, passion alone was no longer enough.
In extreme conditions, performance and safety depend on equipment that is perfectly adapted to the needs of the sportsperson. CAIRN was born out of this desire to push back the limits, while staying safe.
1994
With its heritage and adventures behind it, CAIRN first turned its attention to the world of skiing.
Designed by an expert team with a passion for outdoor sports, our ski helmets and goggles combine performance and protection, to make every outing in the mountains a special moment, and every feat a possibility.
2014
To ensure that everyone has the right protection, our developers are applying their product expertise to complementary ranges. CAIRN is launching its first collections of ski gloves, hats, accessories and goggles.
2018
A leader in winter sports protection, CAIRN is expanding its range with the launch of a complete collection of helmets and accessories for cycling.
The brand is applying its recognised expertise in the mountain world to a wide range of uses for bicycles, for sport, leisure and urban mobility.
